Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing

You will learn the basics of outdoor rock climbing from nationally certified and insured professional instructors in an outdoor group setting, Climbing equipment is included in the cost of this course. Your instructor will discuss the different types of climbing venues and talk about the Yosemite Decimal System (Route Rating Systems). Your will learn the following in this course:  The climber can and may likely learn team building, climbing fundamentals, how to tie climbing knots, how to use climbing equipment, belaying, rappelling, body position, movement on the rocks and more.  There is no charge for Climbing gear rentals.

Take My Family Rock Climbing

"Take Your Family Rock Climbing" is a half day outdoor climbing experience for the entire family . We offer a morning and afternoon session (4 hour duration each). Rock climbing can be fun, and the entire family can participate with the assistance and direction of our expert staff. This is not an instructional venue. Emphasis will be on climbing safely. This venue is appropriate for children from age 5 to 15. Climbing equipment is provided.

$195 / family (4 hour day)

Private Lesson

Private lessons are one on one with the climbing guide. An extraordinary experience. The student will learn climbing skills thru instructional discussions and real life hands climbing scenarios. Maybe you are interested in making the transition to outdoor climbing. Perhaps you want to learn how to build a safe top rope anchor or lead climbing. Whether you are new to climbing and want to learn the fundamentals (i.e., climbing knots, care and use of climbing equipment, how to safely belay and rappel, top rope systems, body position, movement on rocks, etc.) or you have been climbing for some time and are looking to learn new skills or refresh your current knowledge base. Your Riverview Outdoor Adventure guides can help you acquired these skills. Your guide will work with you to customize the lesson to acquire the skills you desire. Our school has women's and children harnesses, shoes, and helmets. Our Guides are certified, professional, insured and FUN. Our full day lessons usually begins at 8:30 am and goes to 4:30 pm. There is no charge for Climbing gear rentals (harnesses, shoes, and helmets).

Semi-Private

Semi Private lessons are one on one with the climbing guide, you and a friend, or you and two friends. An extrordinary experience. The student will learn climbing skills thru instructional discussions and real life hands climbing scenarios. Maybe you are interested in making the transition to outdoor climbing. Perhaps you want to learn how to build a safe top rope anchor or lead climbing. Whether you are new to climbing and want to learn the fundamentals (i.e., climbing knots, care and use of climbing equipment, how to safely belay and rappel, top rope systems, body position, movement on rocks, etc.) or you have been climbing for some time and are looking to learn new skills or refresh your current knowledge base. Climbing Merit Badge

Did you know that most of our guides here at Riverview are Eagle Scouts? We love teaching this merit badges and giving back to the Scouts. Besides the climbing merit badge we welcome all venturing crews and girl scouts looking for a weekend adventure! It has been our experience, that most 11 - 12 year old scout's, will need two days to complete this merit badge. Depending on the scout's emotional maturity and mental focus, it is possible to complete all requirements in one day. The merit badge counselor may request you to book an additional day. 

$45 / day per scout (minimum of four scouts required)

Girl Scouts That Rock (outdoor rock climbing)

Enjoy the day challenging yourself on the rock with the Riverview Outdoor Adventure Climbing School and their guides. The guides setup the safety ropes and outfit each climber with the proper safety equipment which is provided by the climbing school. All necessary climbing gear is provided.

$45 / day per scout (minimum of four scouts required)

Women on the Rocks

A women's only climbing venue! Riverview was the first in the Tri-State in 2006 to start this all womens climbing clinic when the 'Riverview Counseling Center' began offering rock climbing as a way to empower women and improve their self esteem. Empowerment, trust, commitment, communications, and problem solving are the themes of this climbing clinic. The female climber will hone her skills in knot tying, belaying, climbing movement, body position, safe tope rope systems, and she will challenge herself. All climbing equipment is included in the cost for this clinic. The climbing equipment provided is made specifically for women (i.e., harness, climbing shoes, and womens climbing helmets).

$139 / person (minimum of four persons required)
